Rupert Murray - Director
Rupert Murray directed and
edited Unknown White Male,
which was shortlisted for the
Oscars and nominated for a
prestigious Directors Guild of
America Award, Best Cinema
Documentary both at the Grierson
and British Independent Film
Awards. The film tells the story
of an old friend’s struggle
coming to terms with amnesia and
premiered at Sundance and aired
on Channel 4 and Court TV.
Murray has recently directed
feature length documentary
Olly and Suzi: Two of a Mind,
a film about two artists who
paint dangerous predators in the
wild.
A former art student,
professional oyster shucker and
International Editor of the
Mexico City News, he started his
film career by setting up VPTV
where he made vox pops for top
London advertising agencies.
After making Cutting Edge
documentaries Playing for
England and Seconds to
Impact, Murray set up and
ran TV production company
Spectre Broadcast with partner
Beadie Finzi. Credits include
documentary The Outsider,
drama This Was My War
and short White and
Brown, which won the
2005 IVCA Grand Prix. |
